Cat Mate feeder bowls and ice packs: model compatibility
Match C100, C200 and C500 feeder bowls, steel inserts and ice packs using model references and supported part codes. Separate 402, 464, 947, 952 and ice-pack families.

The short answer
Start with the base model, then match the part
Identify the model on the feeder base before choosing a bowl or ice pack. C100/C200 bowls and steel inserts use a different arrangement from C500 parts. The supported bowl codes are 952 for C100/C200 and 947 for C500; steel insert sets are 402 and 464 respectively. Match ice packs by their explicit model list and pack contents, not by blue colour, brand name or an old photograph.
Cat Mate and Closer Pets use several feeder names that look similar in shopping results. A bowl, insert set, rotating carousel and sealed ice pack can all appear under “replacement feeder parts”, but they perform different jobs. Start with the device label and identify the piece you are replacing before comparing offers.
This reference covers the C100/C200 bowl family and C500 bowl, insert and ice-pack arrangements. It does not extend those matches to C300, C3000, microchip feeders or another brand. For the wider mechanism choice, see timed versus microchip feeders.
Work out the replacement pieces for each bowl arrangement
The C200’s two separate bowl positions and the C500’s rotating carousel create different shopping units. This comparison turns the listed spares into a component count for one complete bowl arrangement.
| Required arrangement | Parts or pieces to identify | Matching example | Supporting structure | Source |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Replace both plastic bowls in one C200 | 2 separate bowls | 952 bowl family | Each replacement occupies one of the two bowl positions | [1][5] |
| Add steel liners to both existing C200 bowls | 2 inserts | One 402 pair | The existing compatible bowls remain underneath | [2] |
| Replace the C500 food carousel | 1 carousel with five compartments | 947 replacement tray | One carousel is a different unit from five loose bowls | [3] |
| Steel inserts for all five C500 compartments | 5 inserts | C500 five-insert set | Check the selected offer’s supporting carousel contents | [4] |
A 402 pair can cover the two existing C200 bowl positions. It is not a replacement for the powered feeder or proof that the supporting plastic bowls are included.
For a C500 purchase, identify the food carousel and any required insert-compatible support separately. The exact offer’s contents matter more than the number of shiny pieces in a photograph.

Read the feeder’s base label
Look for the model name and reference on the feeder itself, not only the name on an old order. C100 is associated with reference 405, C200 with 401 and C500 with 365. The C500 instruction family also identifies CP365 and CP465 versions; confirm the actual supplied arrangement if your feeder has a different branded package.
Photograph the base label, bowl from above and below, and any damaged part before removing it. Keep the model’s assembly diagram beside the photos. Count the food compartments and note whether you have separate bowls, a one-piece carousel or removable metal inserts within a supporting tray.
A five-compartment appearance is a clue, not an identity check. Different products can have the same number of meals while using different drives, lids and bowl depths. If the label is missing, ask the manufacturer to identify the device before ordering a part.
Match the supported part family
| Feeder family | Part | Supported code or description | Important distinction |
|---|---|---|---|
| C100 / C200, refs 405 / 401 | Replacement plastic food bowl | 952 | Fits the stated one-/two-meal family, not the C500 carousel |
| C100 / C200 | Steel inserts, pair | 402 | Inserts go inside the existing compatible bowls |
| C500, ref 365 | Replacement food bowl/carousel | 947 | The rotating food tray is different from a small separate bowl |
| C500 | Five steel inserts / matching bowl arrangement | 464 | Check whether the offer includes the required supporting carousel |
| C20 / C50 / C200, refs 201 / 212 / 401 | Replacement ice packs | Manufacturer two-pack SKU 960 | Older manufacturer images may show 900; verify the model list and quantity |
| C500, ref 365 | Replacement ice packs | Manufacturer two-pack SKU 958 | Older manufacturer images may show 945; different from the C200 family |
Codes identify a supported arrangement, not permanent stock. Check that the selected offer names your model and contains the number of pieces you need. An ice-pack family image may be reused across a single-pack and multi-pack listing.
C100 and C200: bowl 952 and inserts 402
The maker’s 952 bowl description names C100 and C200. It describes the food bowl, not a replacement timer, lid or complete feeder base. If a lid no longer closes, first identify whether the bowl is damaged, incorrectly seated or simply the wrong component.
The 402 steel insert set contains two inserts intended to sit within the existing compatible bowls. The maker lists each at 123 × 30 × 137 mm. Those measurements are supporting identification information, not a reason to fit them into an unrelated feeder of similar size.
Check the retained plastic bowl as well as the metal insert. An insert does not restore a cracked supporting bowl or correct a damaged lid mechanism. Keep the feeding surface stable and follow the supplied assembly arrangement.
C500: distinguish bowl 947 from the powered base
The manufacturer’s 947 replacement bowl is the food tray for the C500 family. Its underside must fit and align with the feeder’s drive. The powered base and the upper lid remain separate components.
A replacement bowl is useful when that food-contact part is damaged or you need a spare for a supported cleaning rotation. It will not repair a failing motor, damaged drive or faulty clock. Check those issues before ordering a tray as an assumed cure for missed meals.
After fitting a correct replacement, confirm the tray alignment and next scheduled opening using the exact instructions. Test without relying on an unattended meal. Observe the intended cat actually eating; a rotating tray alone does not confirm a successful feeding arrangement.
C500 steel option: part 464
Removable steel inserts for a C500 feeder
Cat Mate C500 bowl with five steel inserts
A C500-specific replacement bowl arrangement with five removable stainless steel inserts. The selected Amazon offer describes a replacement bowl with inserts; check the package includes the matching carousel rather than treating these as C100/C200 bowls.
Check: Not the 402 insert set for C100/C200
View on Amazon ↗The manufacturer’s 464 information identifies the C500 five-bowl family. The selected Amazon offer is described as a replacement bowl with stainless steel inserts, which matters when comparing it with an offer for loose metal pieces alone.
Confirm that the package contains the matching supporting carousel required by the arrangement. Five individual inserts do not establish that they can be dropped into any version of a plastic tray. Check the complete supplied fit and make sure the lid clears the food and inserts throughout normal operation.
The removable pieces can make individual washing more convenient. The surrounding tray and lid still need cleaning, particularly below an insert and around the drive area. Do not treat a metal food-contact surface as a maintenance-free upgrade.
Ice packs: compare the model list and quantity
The maker’s C20/C50/C200 ice-pack description explicitly names that family. Its current two-pack SKU is 960, while older manufacturer imagery shows 900. The C500 has a separate supported family and shape.
Keeping a spare C500 ice-pack pair ready
Cat Mate C500 replacement ice packs, pack of two
A pair of sealed reusable ice packs listed for the C500 feeder. Match the C500 model family and two-pack contents before ordering; these are different from the C20/C50/C200 ice-pack family and are not refrigeration.
Check: Cooling depends on the conditions
View on Amazon ↗The C500 ice-pack description names C500 reference 365. Its current manufacturer two-pack SKU is 958, with older 945 labels still visible in some imagery. The selected Amazon offer names C500 and a pack of two.
Treat those older labels as a reason to compare the full description carefully, not as proof that all blue packs are equivalent. Check length, shape, seating position and pack contents against the actual feeder instructions. Do not force an unsuitable pack beneath a tray or raise the bowl to make it fit.
Inspect reusable packs before freezing
Check sealed packs for cracking, bulging, damaged seams or leakage. A leaking pack should come out of use; do not tape it closed or put its contents near food. Use the freezing and handling directions supplied for the exact part.
Keep the outside clean by the permitted method and dry it before storage. Avoid bending a frozen pack to fit a recess. A spare pair can make rotation more convenient, but the number in the freezer does not determine how long wet food can remain suitable to serve.
Check the order before checkout

0 of 5 checks complete.
Keep the confirmation with the feeder’s instructions. For routine care after fitting a part, use how to clean an automatic cat feeder. For initial acceptance, return to the feeder introduction routine without expecting the cat to accept a changed bowl immediately.
Frequently asked questions
Do C200 bowls fit the C500?
The manufacturer lists separate bowl families. Bowl 952 is for C100/C200, while bowl 947 is for C500. A similar brand name or food capacity does not make them interchangeable. Match the feeder’s base label, assembly and supported part description before ordering.
What is the difference between Cat Mate 402 and 464?
402 is a pair of steel inserts for the existing C100/C200 bowls. 464 is the C500 five-insert arrangement; the selected Amazon offer describes a replacement bowl with steel inserts. Check the supplied carousel and package contents, rather than treating either code as a generic standalone steel dish.
Are C200 and C500 ice packs interchangeable?
The maker lists different families: one for C20/C50/C200 and another for C500. The current manufacturer two-pack SKUs are 960 and 958 respectively; older images may show 900 and 945. Confirm the model list, shape and number supplied, even where the title simply says Cat Mate ice packs.
Will these parts fit C300 or C3000 feeders?
This reference does not establish that. C300 and C3000 are different models, and C500 is not a general name for every rotating feeder. Use the exact manufacturer part list for the feeder you own rather than extending compatibility from a shared brand or similar model number.
Do steel inserts or new ice packs extend safe wet-food holding time?
They do not create refrigeration or a universal safe holding period. Steel changes the food-contact surface; an ice pack provides condition-dependent cooling. Follow the food’s storage instructions and the feeder manual, taking account of temperature, loading and the actual feeding plan.
