Better Cat Living
Our editorial approach
How we compare cat equipment, make recommendations and handle changing specifications.
We start with the job the equipment needs to do: where a cat will rest, how a meal becomes accessible, how a tray can be entered or which parts need cleaning. A long feature list is useful only when it changes that job.
Recommendations with a reason
Buying guides explain who each model suits and what would rule it out. We check official product information and instructions, distinguish model variants and identify ongoing purchases such as filters, batteries and replacement bowls. Manufacturer claims are not independent proof of durability, safety or a health benefit.
Research and analysis
Our guides combine published manufacturer information and established cat-welfare sources with original calculations, compatibility mapping and practical comparisons. We explain the assumptions behind calculations and link to the documents behind model-specific facts, so readers can follow the reasoning. Sources appear in the relevant guide, with a visible update date.
Keeping facts current
Prices and availability can change, so we link to the current retailer offer rather than print fixed prices. Significant specification changes are checked against the exact model and its instructions. A guide's update date records an editorial review, not an independent certification.
Independence and images
Affiliate commission does not buy a recommendation. Product images come from authorised sources. Editorial home scenes illustrate possible arrangements; product photographs show the items linked in the guide. See our source policy and affiliate disclosure.
