The short answer

Start with the exact model and the job it needs to do

Match the complete carrier family, size and revision to the maker’s exact spare. Ferplast’s standard Atlas 20 and Atlas 30 doors, Professional hook kit and Deluxe side-hook kit have separate codes. Replace a damaged shell or receiver rather than attaching new hardware to an unsound structure.

A replacement carrier door or clip must match more than the brand and approximate width. The carrier family, size, revision, hinge arrangement and receiving points all matter. A part that catches loosely or requires pressure to close is not a successful repair.

Begin by deciding whether the shell is sound. Supported replacement hardware can restore an otherwise intact carrier; it cannot repair a cracked door surround, stretched mounting hole or damaged load-bearing base. If the structure is compromised, move to the carrier replacement guide.

Resolve a spare-parts search using model, variant and component

An Atlas size number is only one field. These worked matches combine the complete model name with the part’s job, retaining an unresolved result where the manufacturer evidence does not name the variant.

Equipment and required componentManufacturer evidence usedResultBoundarySource
Atlas 20 Trendy: replacement doorDoor Atlas 20 list explicitly names Atlas 20 Trendy94100196 supported by that listDoes not identify side hooks or all other size-20 variants[1]
Atlas 20 Deluxe Open: replacement doorThe Door Atlas 20 list does not name Deluxe OpenUnresolved from the quoted door listDo not transfer the Trendy match solely from the number 20[1]
Atlas Professional 30: shell hooksProfessional hook description names sizes 10, 20 and 3094100048 supported by that descriptionThis is the hook kit, not the door or front locks[2]

The Professional hook page’s short title contains 10–20, while its description also names 30. Using the complete supported-model description prevents a title-only rejection of that documented case.

The opposite mistake is extending a named Atlas 20 Trendy door match to Deluxe Open. Keep the exact supported model list beside the part code and retain an unknown result when evidence is incomplete.

Sources for this comparison

  1. Ferplast Door Atlas 20 — 94100196; explicitly names Atlas 20 and Atlas 20 Trendy.
  2. Ferplast Professional hook kit — 94100048; description names Professional 10, 20 and 30.

Collect the full carrier identity

Read the moulded or printed model details and retain every qualifier, including Open, Deluxe, Professional or Trendy. Photograph the complete carrier, label, existing hardware and the empty receiving points. Size numbers on two different product families are not a shared spare-parts specification.

For a missing door, describe whether the original had individual retaining hooks, a different hinge arrangement or a particular closing mechanism. Measurements can help the maker identify it, but matching height and width alone cannot establish the pin position, thickness or latch engagement.

If the label is missing, ask the manufacturer to identify the carrier from clear photographs before ordering. An old receipt can help, provided it describes the exact variant. Do not treat an online photograph of a similar-coloured carrier as enough to select a safety-relevant closure.

Verified Ferplast examples: keep the families separate

Maker’s part name Part code Explicitly supported example Boundary to retain
Door Atlas 20 94100196 Atlas 20 and Atlas 20 Trendy Does not establish Atlas 20 Deluxe Open fit
Door Atlas 30 94100197 Atlas 30 Do not extend to every Atlas 30 variant
Kit Hooks Atlas 10–20 Professional 94100048 Atlas Professional 10, 20 and 30 in the maker’s description Professional kit is a distinct family
Kit Hooks Atlas Deluxe 94100049 Atlas Deluxe side-hook family Side hooks are not the front door locks
Locks Atlas / door-side clip kit 94100078 Maker also names Atlas 10 Trendy, 20 Trendy, 5 and 5 Open Confirm the exact required lock, not just an Atlas label
Kit Hooks Atlas 40 94100043 Atlas 40 Separate from the smaller Professional and Deluxe kits

These are manufacturer identification examples, not a claim that all the parts are supplied together or available through one retailer. The part title and explicit description should agree with your carrier. Where a page uses a family name without naming your exact size or revision, ask Ferplast to confirm before ordering.

The Atlas 20 example is particularly easy to get wrong: a standard Atlas 20 door listing does not establish that it fits the Atlas 20 Deluxe Open. The Deluxe Open assembly instructions show their own arrangement of individual door retainers and locks. A shared “20” is not enough.

Separate the wire door from the closing hardware

A complete door, a hinge retainer, a turning door lock and a shell-joining side clip can all be described casually as “carrier clips”. Identify which job has failed. Replacing a side hook will not repair a bent wire door or a damaged latch receiver.

Inspect the surrounding plastic before deciding the removable part is the only fault. Whitening, cracks, missing edges or distortion around a receiver can mean the shell itself has been stressed. If the new clip would rely on a damaged mounting point, a new clip is not the repair.

Do not bend a wire door repeatedly to improve its fit or substitute cable ties, glue, tape or a generic spring clip for the designed closure. These changes can conceal a failure and make emergency opening harder. Use the supported part and assembly instructions, or replace the carrier.

This is a complete Atlas 30 carrier, not the 94100197 spare door or a repair kit. It is relevant only if a full replacement is needed and the carrier suits your cat’s actual posture and journey. Do not buy a larger box solely because its model number appears in a spare-parts table.

For an intact Atlas 30 needing a door, use the exact manufacturer part route instead. Keep the shell, door and closure identities together so a later order does not confuse the standard carrier with another family carrying a similar number.

For the Deluxe Open family, preserve its own instructions

This card also shows a complete carrier. Its top opening and detachable sections have their own assembly requirements. It does not establish compatibility with the standard Atlas 20 door listed above.

After cleaning or part replacement, use the Deluxe Open instructions to check each individual door retainer, turning lock and shell connection. A handle that appears upright is not evidence that every side clip or door retainer has been refitted. Inspect the whole assembly rather than only the newly purchased piece.

Refit and inspect before the next journey

  1. Compare the unopened replacement code with the manufacturer’s confirmation and exact carrier instructions.
  2. Work with the carrier empty, clean and on a stable surface. Keep loose hardware away from the cat.
  3. Fit every required component in the illustrated orientation. Do not omit a duplicate-looking retainer.
  4. Close and open the door normally several times, checking that it seats evenly and every lock engages without force.
  5. Inspect the shell joins, base, handle and ventilation surfaces before returning the carrier to service.

An empty function check is not a crash test or a reason to exceed the carrier’s load limit. Never test a repair by dropping, shaking or loading the carrier with the cat inside. If a latch releases unexpectedly or the shell moves at a damaged receiver, stop using it and ask the maker about replacement.

Keep parts evidence with the carrier

Save the supported part number and the maker’s confirmation with the manual. A photograph of the correctly assembled closure helps after the next full clean. It also makes it easier for another person to notice that a retainer has been left out.

Before travel, revisit carrier cleaning and securing a carrier in a car. A repaired door solves only its own fault; size, ventilation, base support and the vehicle restraint method still need checking.

Frequently asked questions

Will an Atlas 20 door fit an Atlas 20 Deluxe Open?

The standard Atlas 20 door listing does not establish Deluxe Open compatibility. Match the full family and revision with Ferplast; the shared size number is not enough.

What is the listed door code for a standard Atlas 30?

Ferplast lists Door Atlas 30 as 94100197. Confirm that your carrier is the supported Atlas 30 variant and that the shell’s receiving points are undamaged before ordering.

Are side hooks and door locks the same replacement?

No. Shell-joining side hooks, door retainers and door locks perform different jobs. Identify the failed component and use the exact supported kit rather than a generic clip description.

Can a new clip repair a cracked mounting point?

No. A closure depends on its receiving structure. Cracked, distorted or missing mounting material needs a replacement decision with the maker, not another clip fitted over the damage.

Why are complete carriers shown instead of generic spare doors?

The complete carriers are examples for situations where the structure needs replacing. They are clearly identified as whole products. Unverified generic doors or clips are not presented as supported repair parts.
