Litter disposal bin refill compatibility: cartridges, bags and models
Identify Easy Roll tear-off bags, octagonal and square continuous-film cartridges, and Litter Champ liners. Compare exact bin interfaces and regional pack contents.

The short answer
Start with the exact model and the job it needs to do
Identify the bin’s exact model and refill interface before choosing a pack. EasyRoll uses tear-off bags; other LitterLocker/Litter Genie systems use continuous film in specific cassettes. Janibell’s Litter Champ 250 uses its supported Size 250 liner. Shared branding, bin capacity and a cassette that almost fits are not proof of compatibility.
Litter disposal bin refills are not interchangeable just because the packaging says LitterLocker, Litter Genie or “odour control”. A refill can be a cassette of continuous film, a roll of preformed tear-off bags or a liner system sized for a particular bin mechanism. The opening, supports and way the bag feeds through matter.
The most reliable shopping note is the complete bin name plus the refill format. Keep pack quantity separate: twelve bags and six metres of continuous film are different measurements, not competing descriptions of the same amount of use.
Translate film length into an explicit bag-length scenario
Twelve preformed bags and six metres of continuous film use different units. A continuous roll has no fixed bag count until the total length used for each completed tied-off bag is known.
| Illustrative total film allowance per finished bag | Published roll length used | Calculated complete bags | Interpretation | Source |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 25 cm including closures and offcuts | 6 m = 600 cm | 24 | Arithmetic ceiling for this allowance, before any additional waste | [1] |
| 30 cm including closures and offcuts | 6 m = 600 cm | 20 | Arithmetic ceiling for this allowance, before any additional waste | [1] |
| 40 cm including closures and offcuts | 6 m = 600 cm | 15 | Arithmetic ceiling for this allowance, before any additional waste | [1] |
At these assumptions, six metres gives 24, 20 or 15 complete bags respectively. A universal “bags per refill” or months-of-use figure cannot be derived from roll length alone.
The UK EasyRoll example instead lists 12 preformed tear-off bags. That count belongs to its own supported cartridge system; neither equal bag counts nor equal film lengths establish cross-bin compatibility.

Open the clean bin and identify its interface
After disposing of waste according to the bin instructions, inspect the empty refill compartment. Photograph its outline, locating tabs and the label on the bin. Record whether the current liner pulls through as one unbroken tube or separates into bags at perforations.
A lid that closes over a cassette is not enough to establish compatibility. The refill must be supported in the correct place and feed through the mechanism without folding, tearing or bypassing the intended barrier. Do not force a cassette under the lid or remove locating parts to make it fit.
If the bin was supplied second-hand without a refill, use the model label and manufacturer support. Copying the shape of an unidentified loose cartridge can preserve a previous owner’s mistake. A generic “cat litter bin” listing title is also too broad to serve as the model name.
Compare the main formats before buying
| Bin or refill family | Format to identify | Verified example or reference | What not to assume |
|---|---|---|---|
| UK EasyRoll system | Cartridge with preformed tear-off bags | UK EasyRoll refill contains 12 bags; maker also lists its Platinum Bin with EasyRoll bags | Other regions’ bag counts or month claims describe the same pack |
| LitterLocker by Litter Genie continuous-film system | Octagonal refill with continuous film | UK octagonal refill lists 6 m of film | The shared brand name proves EasyRoll interchangeability |
| Other Litter Genie pails using square cartridges | Square continuous-film cassette | Match the exact pail on the manufacturer’s refill-to-pail chart | Any square cassette is supported in every regional model |
| Janibell Litter Champ model 250 | Size 250 continuous liner | Maker identifies refill 250LR3B, 6 m | A similarly sized household-bin liner or another brand’s capacity proves fit |
The UK octagonal product page contains conflicting wording about EasyRoll compatibility. That is a reason to confirm the exact bin and cartridge with the manufacturer, rather than treating the broad sentence as permission to swap systems. The different formats and the actual compartment should agree before you open a refill.
For legacy Litter Genie names or an imported pail, use the maker’s compatibility chart with the full model. Regional naming and packaging can differ. Do not replace the model name with “the small one” or rely on the colour of an older bin.
EasyRoll: buy the actual tear-off bag pack
An exact EasyRoll tear-off bag refill
LitterLocker by Litter Genie EasyRoll refill, 12 bags
A UK EasyRoll refill containing 12 tear-off bags. Match the EasyRoll cartridge interface and the bin’s own instructions; do not identify it by the LitterLocker name alone.
Check: Not a universal cassette for all LitterLocker bins
View on Amazon ↗The selected UK refill contains twelve bags. The listing’s duration language is not a promise of how long that pack will last in your home. Waste volume, litter type, cats using the trays and emptying frequency all affect the interval.
Match the cartridge to the EasyRoll interface and feed the bags exactly as the bin instructions show. A perforated bag system should not require you to improvise the bottom closure as though it were continuous film. Conversely, a continuous tube is not a stack of ready-closed bags.
Before ordering several packs, confirm the quantity printed on the actual offer. An imported twenty-four-bag pack, a UK twelve-bag pack and a multipack of cassettes may appear in adjacent search results. Compare equivalent contents rather than a headline number of months.
Litter Champ: distinguish the bin from its refill
Pedal access and cut-to-length film
Litter Champ continuous-film litter-disposal bin, grey
A pedal-operated litter-disposal system with continuous bagging film. Cut and tie the waste section when emptying, using the exact bin instructions and suitable replacement roll. The selected offer is an international version.
Check: Correct refills still need checking
View on Amazon ↗This card shows a complete Litter Champ bin as a system example; it is not a refill offer. If your bin works, keep it and identify the supported liner. There is no need to replace the container merely because a genuine refill is difficult to recognise in search results.
For Janibell’s model 250, the maker specifies Size 250, including refill reference 250LR3B and a six-metre roll. Check the label on the actual bin before using that reference, particularly with an imported or older product. A quoted sixteen-litre capacity on another brand’s bin does not prove its liner cassette will work here.
Continuous film is pulled through, tied and cut as the particular mechanism instructs. The useful length of each section depends on actual waste and the tie allowance. Do not turn six metres into a guaranteed number of bags by ignoring the knots and variable fill.
Compare costs using the same unit
For preformed bags, divide the pack price by the stated bag count. For continuous film, compare price per metre first, then consider how your own routine uses it. Those figures answer different questions; a price per metre cannot be compared directly with a price per bag.
For example, a purely illustrative twelve-bag pack at £12 would be £1 per bag. A six-metre film refill at £12 would be £2 per metre. Neither calculation establishes which is cheaper per emptying without knowing the actual section length or bag use. Use the price on the offer you are considering rather than treating these example amounts as product prices.
A larger refill order only saves money if it is correct and can be stored dry. Keep the wrapper with one unopened refill so the next purchase retains the code. Avoid building a stockpile around an uncertain cross-fit claim.
Use the bin without hiding a cleaning problem
Remove waste from the tray as part of the normal routine and close the disposal system properly after use. Clean the bin’s permitted surfaces when empty, keeping waste and cleaning tools away from food areas. A compatible cartridge does not compensate for contamination around the lid or bag path.
If film catches or tears, stop and inspect the threading and cassette seating before pulling harder. Keep fingers away from any enclosed cutting mechanism and follow the bin’s own emptying procedure. Do not defeat guards or leave a loose sharp cutter beside the tray.
Ordinary household bags can be useful for other disposal routines, but they have not thereby been established as compatible cartridges or equivalent odour-barrier refills. If you prefer a different system, compare the whole routine in litter disposal bins, including ongoing refill availability.
Keep the refill decision with the bin
Write the bin’s complete name and the supported refill reference on a small household note, away from the animal’s access. Add a photograph of the compartment. This is more dependable than asking another person to remember a changing pack design.
For the tray itself, use how to clean a litter tray. The disposal container handles removed waste; it does not replace scooping, washing the tray or providing enough appropriate tray locations.

Frequently asked questions
Are all LitterLocker and Litter Genie refills interchangeable?
No blanket interchangeability should be assumed. Different regional and model families use different interfaces and bag formats. Match the exact bin with the manufacturer’s refill listing or chart.
How many bags are in the selected UK EasyRoll refill?
The selected UK pack contains twelve tear-off bags. Other regional packs and multipacks may have different quantities. Read the actual contents rather than relying on the headline duration.
What refill does a Litter Champ 250 use?
Janibell identifies Size 250 liners, including the six-metre 250LR3B refill. Confirm that the actual bin is model 250 before applying that reference to an older or imported version.
Is six metres of film the same as twelve bags?
No. Film is measured by length, and the number of tied sections depends on how much is pulled through and used for knots. Preformed bags have a fixed count but still vary in how quickly a household fills them.
What if a compatibility sentence conflicts with the pictured cassette?
Keep the refill unopened and ask the manufacturer to confirm your exact bin and pack. A broad product-page sentence is not enough when the physical format and model information disagree.
